Subcision Subcutaneous incision, also known as subcision, is a means of minimizing the appearance of rolling scars by breaking up the fibrous bands that cause them. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia by inserting a specially beveled needle under the skin so that it is parallel to the skin surface and cutting the tethering bands. This procedure causes bruising but this fades after about 1 week.
Punch Excision Punch excision is used on deep scars such as icepick and deep boxcar scars. This procedure uses a punch biopsy tool which is matched to the size of the scar and its surrounding walls. The tool works like a cookie-cutter and removes the entire scar from the skin. The skin around the excision is then sutured and left to heal. This leaves the surface of the skin much smoother. If any scar remains from the excision it will be much easier to treat than the original acne scare.
Microdermabrasion & Dermabrasion for scars Microdermabrasion can finely resurface the superficial layers of the skin to minimize the appearance of acne scars. Microdermabrasion uses aluminum oxide crystals that pass over the skin and are then vacuumed away. The vacuuming pressure also stimulates new cell growth and blood flow. Microdermabrasion provides rapid results with minimal discomfort. It is an easy way to resurface the skin without chemicals or lasers. Dermabrasion is suited to more serious acne scarring. Dermabrasion and dermaplaning help to "refinish" the skin's top layers by sanding them using a small hand held tool. The treatments soften the sharp edges of surface irregularities, giving the skin a smoother appearance. (LINK TO DERMABRASION PAGE)
Dermal Fillers
Clinic'estetica™ has a wide range of temporary and permanent fillers that can be used to treat acne scars. Fillers are injected into deep scars to raise the surface of the skin and restore a smooth appearance.
